Please join us on Monday, April 14th for an engaging evening with Lawyer John Nechman who will discuss current immigration issues.
John received his law degree from South Texas in 1983. He is a founder of the law firm Katine Nechman McLaurin LLP, where he focuses on immigration law. The firm is a cooperating attorney with the Consulado de México in Houston, providing legal assistance and education to Houston’s Mexican community.
Asylum cases, which involve people who hope to stay in the U.S. to avoid persecution in their home country, are one of John’s specialties.

After graduating from UT, he spent the next 5 years living, working, and traveling in over 100 countries. He is fluent in Spanish and proficient in German, Portuguese, Italian, and Norwegian. He continues to be an energetic traveler with his husband Ricardo (together since 1996), and often with family members.
John is also an expert in sexual orientation and the law and HIV and the law. He has been an adjunct professor at the South Texas College of Law and University of Houston Law Center.
